Show your opposition to the proposed GARBAGE TRANSFER STATION at 56TH & PENDLETON PIKE, (10000 E. 56th street, Waste Mgt. of Indiana)
Please attend the public hearing Tuesday, Jan. 31st, 7PM. The hearing is at the Lawrence Government Center (public assembly room) located at 9001 E. 59th Street, (corner of 59th and Post Road)
With this proposal:
• future retail development of 56th & Pendleton Pike area in jeopardy
• property values will go down
• traffic crossing 56th street will be more congested - visitors offended
• investment in Lawrence’s new downtown jeopardized
Let’s not direct garbage trucks & semi’s into the city.
The proposed Garbage Transfer Station includes:
• 120 garbage trucks unloading garbage - 24 hours a day!
• transfering garbage into semi’s from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm
(garbage not transfered by 5:00 pm will remain overnight)
• INDUSTRIAL, COMMERCIAL & RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE
(possibility exists for garbage outside of Lawrence to be included)

The hearing has been continued until Monday February 27th at 7pm.
Hello Everyone,
The Lawrence Zoning Board of Appeals denied Waste Management their zoning for the transfer station. Waste Management appealed this decision. There will be a hearing in the Environmental Court on:
Thursday, October 5, 2006, at 9:00 A.M.
